While heading home from Anaheim yesterday, my husband really wanted to check out Bob's Big Boy for lunch. We arrived around 11:30am and the place was pretty busy, but we only waited about 6 minutes for a table. The inside has that old school diner feel with lots of booth seating on both ends of the restaurant. There were lots of photos on the walls of Bob's history and photos of celebrity regulars which I always enjoy looking at whenever restaurants have them hanging up. I can tell that Bob's has a lot of local regulars that give it that nice homey feeling. We ordered the Steak and Eggs, Super Big Boy with Chili Cheese Fries, Chili Spaghetti and a Kids Hamburger. The food was very fresh - the burger and spaghetti both came with side salad. My only critique was that the burger and spaghetti did lack a bit in salt, but that was easily fixable. The steak was seasoned and cooked well and the Cherry Cokes were to die for (we even took one to go). Overall, this place is very iconic and I love to support and respect places that have been around for a long time regardless of how amazing their food is. Our server was amazing, she hustled and did a great job of checking up on us. I would definitely come back next time we are in the area! Check them out!
Great food, great service. However.... They sent us a text saying "Bob's Big Boy - Burbank: Your estimated wait is 30 minutes. We'll text you when your table is ready." We never got that text. We waited 46 minutes in our car as it was cold outside. They said they were calling our name on the intercom. What's the point of telling us we'll get a text when a table is ready? Why not tell patrons to wait to be called via intercom? They put us at the top of the list and we still waited 10 minutes. Ultimately we got $10 off our check as compensation for our time.
2024.09-06/FRI_1800: We decided to visit Bob's Big Boy before the car show started and figured out wouldn't be too busy - we were wrong! This was the first time we showed up at a busy time. It was still busy but a party of two is never a long wait. We sat down in ten minutes. It was great. Had we known our favorite server, Janelle was working, we would've requested her section! We always see her early in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays. We had no idea she worked nights! Sorry, Janelle! We definitely had a great time still because the ambiance there is like your hometown diner! Janelle saw us and greeted us. We love her! Today we had something out of the ordinary - their Fried Fish and Shrimp dinner. We also started with the Chicken Strips appetizer, too. Holy moly. Their Chicken Strips were super duper tender. The breading was DELICIOUS, too. They send them with ranch and a little 2 oz. souffle cup of their BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce was tasty! I just loved the smell of the Chicken Fingers when they arrived! I can't explain it. My Fish and Shrimp dinner was also scrumpdiliumcious! The breading wasn't excessive and just hot and tender. I'm not sure how they make the breading but it was perfect! Instead of fries, I got mashed potatoes and fruit. Even better, my dinner came with a salad, too. Talk about some delicious food. We were trying to save room for dessert but of course, we didn't make it so when we left, we got our since of Strawberry Pie to go! You know how much we love their Strawberry Pie - we bought four of them for my birthday! Just to let you know, their Strawberry Pie can feed a lot of people! When is in season, I suggest you buy a pie because you can't get that homemade pie anywhere else in the city. Believe me when I say that!
My girlfriend and I visited Bob's Big Boy yesterday, and once again, it did not disappoint! We ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger and the Pappy Parker's Fried Chicken meal, and both were absolutely delicious. The portions were so generous that I couldn't even finish all the food! We also got vanilla cokes, which were the perfect complement to our meals--so refreshing and tasty. One thing I love about Bob's is that they include dinner salads with almost every meal. We each had one, and they were fresh and flavorful, a great start to the meal. Overall, the experience was amazing, and I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. The food, the service, and the nostalgic atmosphere all make for a wonderful dining experience!
I will always love Bob's Big Boy and I'm so glad this location in Burbank is going strong. It's a Mid-Century Modern diner. Going on Friday evenings is the most fun. It was busy as always and there was a line, but it didn't take long to be seated. Food and service was good as always. This is a staple establishment and way more fun than Denny's as far as a diner experience.
Late evening dessert at Bob's Big Boy. Seated fairly quick. Nadia, our server was welcoming, friendly, nice and not overly attentive. Our Hot Fudge Cake with ice cream was sooo good!
